Alain Jaume Réserve Grand Veneur delivers blackberry, plum and spice with classic Rhône depth, balance, complexity and value.
Alain Jaume is one of the Rhône Valley's most respected family producers, with a winemaking history that stretches back to 1826. Today, the fifth generation continues to oversee the estate, crafting wines that capture the warmth, generosity and authenticity of the Southern Rhône. The Grand Veneur range has become a benchmark for quality and value, offering wines that consistently punch well above their weight while reflecting the character of the region's famous vineyards.
Réserve Grand Veneur is sourced from carefully selected parcels throughout the Southern Rhône, where Grenache and Syrah thrive on a mix of clay, limestone and rolled stone soils. The 2023 vintage delivered beautifully ripe fruit while retaining freshness and balance, creating a wine that combines immediate appeal with classic Rhône character. Gentle winemaking and careful maturation preserve the vibrancy of the fruit while adding texture and complexity.
Deep ruby red with purple highlights, the bouquet reveals aromas of blackberry, raspberry and dark cherry layered with notes of cracked pepper, lavender and dried Provençal herbs. As the wine opens, hints of licorice, olive tapenade and warm spice emerge, adding depth and intrigue. The palate is medium to full bodied, delivering juicy dark berry fruits, plum and savoury garrigue flavours supported by supple tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is smooth, generous and lingering, with notes of spice and wild herbs carrying through.
This is a wonderfully versatile Rhône red that pairs beautifully with grilled lamb cutlets, slow cooked pork shoulder, wood fired pizza, smoky vegetable dishes or a hearty mushroom ragù. Approachable from release, it offers exceptional drinking over the next five to seven years.
