The blending of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois is pretty typical for a dry, Alsatian white wine. But what is not typical is the freshness and high acidity that Albert Mann has retained in this wine. Typically varietal on the nose with aromatic, floral, and white stone-fruit characters. However, the palate brings a racy acidity and an austere minerality that is not typical of the grapes or style. This is far more of a dry-Riesling lovers wine than a Gris or Blanc lovers wine. That having been said, it is still a beautifully crisp, and very drinkable, Alsatian white. Perfect for the hot day seafood platters!
Farming organically and adhering to very low yields to ensure high quality grapes, this Alsatian estate makes stunning wines while keeping their prices relatively low. This blend of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois has pear and white flowers on the nose and a creamy mouthfeel with generous fruit. A perfect pairing with roast pork or roast chicken.
The goal of the estate is to produce wine that is in harmony with nature. Wine is the memory of the grape and is capable of transmitting the taste of the earth.
Since 2000, the estate's wine have been organically certified by Ecocert. They began practising biodynamic viticulture in 1997 in three Grands Crus vineyards. Over the following years, they applied biodynamics across the entirety of our estate and since 2010, we have the biodynamic certification from Biodyvin.
The viticultural practice is labour intensive and more costly but it gives the wine the purest reflection of its terroir and its own identity. In plowing the vineyards, they manage to make the roots go down to a maximum depth to capture the minerals of the rock degradation.
