Bodega Argento Esquinas Malbec from Mendoza is a vibrant and polished example of Argentina’s signature red grape, made with fruit grown in the high-altitude vineyards of the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo. Argento, one of the leading names in modern Mendoza winemaking, focuses on sustainable and organic viticulture, producing wines that highlight purity, freshness and a clear sense of place. The Esquinas range celebrates distinctive vineyard corners where sun, soil and elevation meet in perfect balance.
The grapes are hand picked from vineyards at altitudes reaching 1000 metres above sea level, where warm days and cool nights allow for slow ripening and excellent flavour concentration. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit integrity, with a portion of the wine aged briefly in French and American oak to add texture and spice without overwhelming the fruit.
In the glass it shows an intense violet hue. The aroma is generous and expressive, revealing black cherry, plum and mulberry layered with notes of vanilla, cocoa, violets and a touch of graphite. The palate is rich and velvety, full of ripe dark fruit and subtle spice framed by soft tannins and bright acidity. It finishes long and smooth, with hints of mocha and dried herbs adding complexity.
It pairs perfectly with grilled meats, empanadas, lamb skewers, or a slow-cooked beef stew. It also complements hearty pasta dishes and aged cheeses. Delicious now for its ripe fruit and supple texture, it will age gracefully for up to eight years, gaining savoury depth and polish with time.
