Bright medium-deep colour, youthfully purple and fresh; there are smoky reduction and dark-cherry varietal aromas, while the palate presents deliciously sweet, ripe cherry pinot flavour and gorgeous silky texture. There is charm to burn here. Utterly delicious wine to enjoy now, although it will happily keep for several years. 06 Jul 2025 Drink 2025–2035

Bright ruby with inviting aromas of macerated red and dark cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry underscored with hints of five-spice, leaf litter, charcuterie, dried shiitake, rhubarb, drying meadow herbs, died citrus rind and gentle, creamy oak tones. There's a lovely balance and poise to this release; fruit pure and enduring, tannins powdery and pillowy and a bright mineral-laden cadence.

Bream Creek Vineyard Reserve Pinot Noir is a standout expression of cool-climate Tasmanian elegance, crafted from one of the island’s oldest and most picturesque coastal vineyards. Situated near Marion Bay on Tasmania’s east coast, the Bream Creek site enjoys a unique maritime influence—cool sea breezes, long sunshine hours, and free-draining soils—producing fruit with remarkable intensity, purity and natural acidity.

Fred Peacock, a viticultural pioneer in Tasmania, has been the guiding hand behind Bream Creek since the late 1990s. His philosophy is all about balance, sustainability and allowing the vineyard to express itself without excessive intervention. The Reserve Pinot Noir represents the pinnacle of the estate’s production, made only in exceptional years from the best parcels of handpicked fruit. Yields are kept low, and everything from wild fermentation to gentle oak maturation is geared toward preserving varietal character and structural finesse.

In the glass, this Pinot is deeply perfumed with lifted aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and poached plum, layered with rose petal, orange peel, forest floor and subtle spice from quality French oak. The palate is medium bodied and silky, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a savoury undercurrent that gives real depth and length. It manages to be plush and precise all at once, with the kind of shape and complexity that speaks to careful viticulture and thoughtful winemaking.

Food pairings lean toward the earthy and elegant—think duck breast with cherry jus, roast quail with truffled lentils, grilled salmon, or mushroom and thyme tart. It’s a wine that shines now but will evolve beautifully over the next 6 to 10 years, gaining further nuance and softness with age.

Critics consistently praise the Reserve Pinot for its structure, varietal purity and sense of place. It has earned gold medals and top scores at major Australian wine shows and remains a quietly confident ambassador for Tasmanian Pinot Noir on the national and international stage.
