A blend of shiraz parcels from vineyards throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Violet-flecked satsuma plum, black cherry and blueberry fruits with hints of baking spices, licorice, dark chocolate, cedar, earth and olive tapenade. I like the fruit weight and flow with this wine with its array of spice and pure fruit, supple tannins and nice persistence at the back end.

From the warm, rolling vineyards of the Barossa Valley, Brothers at War has carved out a niche for bold yet characterful wines that celebrate both regional generosity and a sense of fun. The label was founded by brothers Angus and Sam Sobels, whose playful rivalry inspired the name while their shared passion for wine shaped the style. Drawing on fruit from mature Barossa vineyards, the Fist Fight Shiraz captures the depth and richness the region is famous for while maintaining approachability and balance. The Barossa’s mix of ancient sandy soils and clay loams, combined with warm days and cooling evening breezes, allows Shiraz to develop concentrated flavour alongside supple tannin structure.
Careful vineyard selection and thoughtful handling in the winery ensure the fruit remains the focus. Fermentation techniques are aimed at preserving varietal intensity while oak maturation adds structure and complexity without overwhelming the wine’s vibrant personality. The result is a Shiraz that reflects both the power of the Barossa and the modern preference for drinkability.
The wine shows a deep crimson colour with rich purple hues. Aromas are generous and inviting with blackberry, dark plum and black cherry layered with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate and sweet baking spice. As the wine opens further nuances of vanilla, toasted oak and subtle earthy tones begin to emerge. The palate is full flavoured and plush, offering waves of ripe black fruit supported by smooth tannins and a rounded texture. Hints of pepper and savoury spice add dimension, leading into a long, warming finish with lingering fruit richness.
Perfect beside slow roasted lamb shoulder, barbecue brisket, chargrilled steaks or hearty winter dishes where the wine’s depth and warmth can stand up to bold flavours.
