Blackberry, plum and cedar with silky tannins and classic Bordeaux character and depth.
Château Grand Jean has been family owned for generations, with the De Schepper family producing authentic Bordeaux that combine traditional winemaking with modern precision. Situated in the heart of Bordeaux, the estate has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional value while remaining true to the character of the region's classic grape varieties.
This Bordeaux Supérieur is crafted predominantly from Merlot with supporting Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, grown on clay and limestone soils that encourage generous fruit and refined structure. The excellent 2023 vintage has produced a wine of freshness, balance and immediate appeal, offering classic Bordeaux character with a contemporary touch.
The colour is a deep ruby red with vibrant purple highlights. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry and plum are layered with cedar, violet and sweet spice. The palate is smooth and beautifully balanced, combining ripe dark fruits with silky tannins and lively acidity. Notes of liquorice, cocoa and dried herbs build through the mid palate before a long, savoury finish with excellent persistence.
A delicious partner for grilled lamb cutlets, beef casserole, duck with olives or roasted mushroom and thyme tart. Enjoy over the next five to seven years while its generous fruit and polished structure are at their peak.
