The 2023 Shiraz is concentrated, energetic, structural and populated by purple fruit in the mouth. 2023 was a superb vintage in Western Australia, and it seems that most producers are making some of their best ever wines in this year. It's a vintage to watch for and collect. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Deep ruby colour. Ripe mixed-berry aromatics. Plush and sweet berry fruits fill the palate; hints of roses and lavender complete the sense of ripeness. As it sits, liquorice and white pepper emerge. Fine tannins and a subtle brush of acidity bring focus, and the finish is finely shaped 04 Dec 2025 Drink 2025–2035

From the cool, windswept reaches of Western Australia’s Great Southern comes a Shiraz that highlights the precision and perfume of Frankland River. Larry Cherubino founded Cherubino Wines after years of experience across some of Australia’s most respected estates, building a reputation for site driven, regionally expressive wines. Frankland River, one of the standout subregions of Great Southern, is known for its ancient gravelly soils, elevated vineyards and cooling Southern Ocean influence. These conditions produce Shiraz of spice, structure and vibrant acidity rather than overt power, and this bottling captures that cool climate signature.
Deep crimson with bright ruby flashes, the aromatics are lifted and complex. Blackberry, dark plum and red cherry unfold alongside cracked black pepper, violet and dried herbs. There is a distinctive mineral edge and a subtle savoury note that speak of the region’s ancient soils and moderate climate.
On the palate it is medium to full bodied yet beautifully balanced, combining dark berry fruit with fine, structured tannins and bright natural acidity. Layers of spice, olive tapenade and gentle oak weave through the mid palate, adding depth without heaviness. The finish is long, peppery and savoury, showing clarity and length rather than sheer weight. It is a refined expression of Frankland River Shiraz with both energy and depth.
Pair with grilled lamb cutlets, slow braised beef, venison or charred eggplant with herbs. While expressive and engaging now, it will cellar confidently for ten to fifteen years, developing further savoury complexity and integrated spice.
