From 1996 plantings. Cold soak on skins overnight; 20% fermented in French oak. Bright green gold. Another compelling gris from Clyde Park with its aromas of cranberry, pear skin, white flowers and a little spice. The palate is textured, energetic and poised, a fine thread of acidity keeping it taut and refreshing. A top-flight example.

Clyde Park Pinot Gris is a finely balanced, cool climate white that captures the elegance and quiet confidence of Geelong’s Bannockburn region. Set just north of the Moorabool Valley, Clyde Park’s vineyards benefit from a strong maritime influence, low rainfall and long ripening conditions that suit Pinot Gris beautifully. The mix of volcanic basalt and clay soils gives the wine texture and savoury detail, setting it apart from softer, more aromatic styles.

Clyde Park is known for thoughtful, site focused winemaking and a consistent emphasis on balance rather than excess. Pinot Gris here is handled with restraint, picked to preserve natural acidity and fermented carefully to build flavour and texture without sweetness. The style is dry, composed and deliberately food driven, very much in keeping with the estate’s philosophy.

In the glass, the wine is expressive but controlled. Pear, nashi pear and white peach sit at the core, followed by citrus peel, almond skin and a subtle floral lift. There is a faint mineral note running through the aromatics, adding depth and a sense of place.

On the palate, Clyde Park Pinot Gris is dry, fresh and gently textured. Orchard fruit flavours glide across the palate, supported by lively acidity and a light phenolic grip that gives shape and persistence. The finish is clean, savoury and refreshing, lingering with pear skin, citrus and a soft mineral edge.

This is a Pinot Gris made for the table. It pairs beautifully with seafood, roast chicken, pork, Asian inspired dishes or vegetable based plates. Drinking well now for its freshness and balance, it will also hold comfortably over the next three to five years.

Clyde Park Pinot Gris is elegant, regional and quietly assured. A refined Geelong Pinot Gris that delivers flavour, texture and freshness in equal measure.
