Hand-picked, early-harvest fruit from a cool season has resulted in bright lemon flavours, plus a little white peach, resulting in a wine with beautiful freshness. There is youthful tension, harmony and flow. The nose is quiet on opening, with prominent flinty sulfides, but aeration balances these with the fruit. Here, 20% of the blend underwent mlf. Maturation in French oak barrels, of which 20% were new.

Dalwood Estate Chardonnay from the Hunter Valley is a beautifully balanced and elegant wine that reflects the region's rich winemaking tradition and modern craftsmanship. With its vibrant fruit character, refined complexity, and subtle use of oak, it captures the essence of cool-climate Chardonnay grown in this historic wine region.
On the nose, aromas of white peach, citrus blossom, and nectarine are intertwined with hints of toasted almonds, vanilla, and a delicate flinty minerality. These inviting aromatics set the stage for the wine's layered and harmonious palate.
The palate is medium-bodied, with a creamy texture balanced by fresh acidity. Flavors of stone fruits, lemon curd, and green apple are complemented by subtle notes of cashew and a touch of spice from oak aging. The finish is long and clean, with a lingering impression of elegance and finesse.
Sourced from Dalwood’s estate vineyards, the Chardonnay benefits from the Hunter Valley’s warm days and cool nights, which promote slow ripening and optimal flavor development. Gentle winemaking techniques, including partial fermentation in French oak and time on lees, enhance the wine's depth while maintaining its bright, fruit-driven profile.
This versatile wine pairs beautifully with dishes like roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or pumpkin gnocchi with sage butter. It also complements hard cheeses or creamy seafood risottos. Enjoyable now for its vibrancy, it can be cellared for 5–7 years to develop additional layers of complexity.
