From the oldest continuously operating commercial vineyard in Australia
Tremendous power and energy, yet beautifully composed, with engaging characters of warm, spiced plums and cherries. It is an easy-to-love style that epitomises the essence of shiraz with its brightness, balance and easy generosity. Flowing, fragrant and ripe without being excessive. The strength of the Dalwood vineyard shines through, and the wine's impeccable balance sets it apart. Drink to 2033.
96 points Toni Paterson for Halliday Wine Companion, June 2025
This wine was matured for fourteen months in French oak barrels of which 20% were new.
About this producer
Dalwood Estate was established in 1828 by George Wyndham and is the oldest continuously running commercial vineyard in Australia. After decades under corporate ownership, the historic Hunter Valley vineyard is once again family operated, with Sam Arnout adding Dalwood in 2016 to his earlier acquisitions of Hungerford Hill and Sweetwater. The three sites and labels retain distinct identities but share the expertise of the viticultural team as well as winemaking facilities which are based at Hungerford Hill.
