2023 Douloufakis Enotria White, Crete

Douloufakis Enotria White is a lively and approachable blend from Crete that showcases the island’s native Vidiano grape alongside international varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat of Spina. This wine is all about freshness, aromatic lift and effortless drinkability, crafted by respected winemaker Nikos Douloufakis, who has helped put modern Cretan wine on the global map.

The name Enotria harks back to ancient Greece, meaning "land of wine", and this bottle is a fitting tribute. Sourced from the mountainous vineyards around the village of Dafnes, southwest of Heraklion, the grapes grow in limestone-rich soils at elevations of 350 to 450 metres. The cooler nights here help maintain acid structure, while the sun-drenched days ripen the fruit to aromatic intensity.

Fermented in stainless steel and bottled young, the wine bursts with citrus blossom, green melon, lychee and lemon balm.
