This wine comes from a single plot, planted in 1975 and dry grown. Big perfume of jasmine, chamomile, grapefruit and lime. Flavours rolling out similarly with quite a good crunch of Granny Smith apple in there, too. A juiciness to texture, a steel rod of acidity thrust through. Feels bell ring clear. Lively expression of riesling with good depth and detail of fruit, spice and minerally acidity. Kudos.

Fruit from Block 2 in the Forest Hill vineyard, planted in 1975. Hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, racked to a combination of stainless steel and oak (one seasoned Austrian demi-muid). Kept on lees until bottling in October. 3g/L RS. Textural, dense and super-long; even without the prior knowledge of residual sugar, it is evident in a little glycerol slick through the finish, perfectly in sync with the plump fruit that precedes it. Similarly, the oak component is invisible, save for the texture in the mouth. This is the complete package – it's a burster. Not only is it awesome now, but this is going to age with interest and grace. Stock up.
