François Chidaine Le Chenin d’Ici is a fresh, vibrant, and utterly drinkable expression of Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley, crafted with the same precision and organic principles that define all of Chidaine’s wines. This cuvée sits outside of the traditional AOC framework, classified as Vin de France, which allows Chidaine to explore a lighter, more playful style of Chenin while still showcasing the variety’s hallmark texture and energy.
Le Chenin d’Ici is sourced from organically farmed vineyards in the Touraine region, grown on flinty clay and limestone soils that lend the wine a beautiful mineral backbone. The vines are managed with the same biodynamic care as Chidaine’s grander cuvées, ensuring healthy fruit and a strong sense of place, even in a more accessible bottling.
Fermentation is spontaneous using native yeasts, carried out in stainless steel to preserve the wine’s bright fruit and crisp acidity. There is no oak, no malolactic fermentation—just pure, unfiltered Chenin Blanc with plenty of lift and vitality.
In the glass, it shows notes of lemon peel, green apple, white peach, chamomile, and crushed rock. The palate is dry and lively, with zingy citrus, mouthwatering acidity, and a stony finish that brings freshness and a touch of salinity. It’s precise and energetic, but also easy to enjoy—perfect for everyday drinking or pairing with oysters, goat cheese salad, or simple grilled fish.
Le Chenin d’Ici is a fantastic introduction to François Chidaine’s style—thoughtful, clean, and transparently made with care. It may not be an AOC wine, but it absolutely delivers the quality and typicity that define great Loire Chenin.
