G.D. Vajra has earned a place among Piedmont's most respected family wineries, renowned for producing wines of authenticity, finesse and remarkable value. Founded by Aldo Vajra and now led by Giuseppe, Francesca and Isidoro Vajra, the estate has become a standard bearer for organic farming and traditional winemaking in the Langhe. While its Barolos enjoy worldwide acclaim, the Langhe Rosso demonstrates that the family's philosophy extends well beyond its flagship wines, delivering a vibrant, characterful blend that captures the generosity and charm of this celebrated region.

The 2023 vintage provided excellent conditions across the Langhe, with warm days and cool evenings encouraging even ripening while preserving freshness and aromatic definition. A blend of indigenous Piedmont varieties, the wine is vinified with a gentle touch before maturing in a combination of stainless steel and seasoned oak. This restrained approach allows the fruit to remain bright and expressive, creating a wine that is approachable in its youth while retaining the balance and structure that are hallmarks of the Vajra style.

Bright ruby red in colour, the aromas open with ripe black cherry, red plum and crushed blackberry before revealing notes of violet, dried oregano and sweet baking spice. As the wine evolves, hints of cocoa, cedar and woodland earth emerge, adding savoury complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The palate is supple, energetic and beautifully balanced, with juicy dark berries supported by silky tannins and lively acidity. A gentle mineral thread and subtle spice carry through a fresh, harmonious finish that reflects the elegance and drinkability of the finest Langhe reds.

Equally at home with chargrilled pork, slow cooked beef ragù, wood fired pizza, roast chicken with rosemary, mushroom lasagne or mature Fontina. Delicious from release, it will continue to drink beautifully over the next five to seven years as its savoury character becomes even more appealing.
