Trophy Gold & 95 points Royal Sydney Wine Show 2023
A moving feast of varieties with 45/40 shiraz/sangiovese leading this vintage. A moreish style with spiced red berries and watermelon, both juice and crunch. Lots of zesty acidity and some fine, creamy, curd-like lees adding depth to the palate, although certainly a super-bright and tight acid line throughout.

Howard Park’s Miamup Rosé 2023 was awarded The Leslie Kemeny Memorial Perpetual Trophy for Best Rosé in a competition that saw more than 2,200 entries from winemakers across the country submit their wines. The Sydney Royal Wine show is noted as one of Australia’s most prestigious wine shows, having been established in 1826.
Howard Park Miamup Rosé from Margaret River is a vibrant and finely balanced dry rosé that combines fresh, lively fruit with the structure and clarity you’d expect from one of Western Australia’s most respected producers. It’s a wine that brings both elegance and everyday drinkability, made with a focus on purity and gentle handling.
Crafted under the direction of Chief Winemaker Nic Bowen, who has a background steeped in both still and sparkling winemaking, Miamup Rosé benefits from his sharp attention to detail and textural sensitivity. The fruit is sourced from selected Margaret River vineyards, with a blend typically anchored by Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, sometimes with small portions of other red varieties to bring aromatic lift and finesse.
The fruit is picked early to preserve natural acidity and freshness, then whole bunch pressed to minimise phenolics. Fermentation is slow and cool in stainless steel to maintain aromatics, with a short period on lees to add mouthfeel and savoury depth. No oak is used, keeping the wine crisp, focused, and fruit-forward.
In the glass, it shows a pale salmon hue with aromas of strawberry, pomegranate, pink grapefruit, and dried herbs. The palate is dry and refreshing with juicy red berries, a splash of citrus, fine texture, and a clean, saline finish. There’s just enough fruit sweetness to make it approachable, but it finishes dry and savoury—ideal for a wide range of food pairings.
Critics have consistently praised the Miamup Rosé for its precision and value, often highlighting its balance between bright fruit and restrained elegance. It’s a go-to option for those who want a well-made, no-fuss rosé that still carries the signature quality of Howard Park’s portfolio.
Best enjoyed with fresh seafood, summer salads, charcuterie, or simply chilled on a warm afternoon.
