Medium plus red purple. 50% whole bunch vinification. One new and one one-year-old out of four barrels. This is full of fruit, and really lifted, caresses the palate, little alpine strawberries with a very long aftertaste. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Dec 2024.

Jane Eyre Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Les Corbeaux is a poised and powerful expression of Pinot Noir from one of the most characterful corners of the Côte de Nuits. Nestled just below the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Les Corbeaux delivers both the muscular structure associated with Gevrey and a surprising degree of elegance—something winemaker Jane Eyre captures with grace and precision in this small-production Premier Cru bottling.
Les Corbeaux sits on deep clay and limestone soils that lend density and savoury drive to the fruit. The site benefits from the cool winds and slightly elevated position typical of northern Gevrey, which help retain freshness and aromatic detail. Jane Eyre, known for her sensitive, non-interventionist approach, works with growers who farm with sustainability in mind. In the cellar, she favours partial whole bunch fermentation, native yeasts, and a light hand with new oak to preserve the wine’s natural energy and site expression.
In the glass, this wine opens with lifted aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, rose petal, crushed herbs, and hints of forest floor and spice. The palate is medium to full bodied, layered and structured, with ripe fruit, firm but polished tannins, and a mineral core that drives the long, resonant finish. It’s a wine of quiet intensity and detail—classic Gevrey muscle wrapped in fine tailoring.
Perfect with roast duck, lamb shoulder, or mushroom and thyme tart, Jane Eyre’s Les Corbeaux is a Premier Cru that speaks clearly of place, vintage, and the careful hand behind it. It is ageworthy, serious, and above all, honest—a wine that Burgundy lovers will want to follow over time.
