Jane has changed her sources for Santenay and now gets one barrel from Champ Claude and three from a source with mixed vineyards, in must. The bouquet shows a little fruit, while the palate is very much more interesting, adequate flesh, yet more a fresh fruit with nicely balanced acidity to finish. On the racier side. Drink from 2027-2029. Tasted Dec 2024.

Jane Eyre Santenay Blanc is a bright, mineral-laced white Burgundy that captures the understated elegance of Chardonnay from the southern end of the Côte de Beaune. While Santenay is better known for its reds, Jane Eyre’s white from this appellation offers a beautifully balanced and quietly complex wine—subtle, textured, and driven by freshness rather than oak or opulence.

Australian-born Jane Eyre has built her reputation in Burgundy through meticulous attention to site, a gentle winemaking hand, and a focus on purity over power. Her Santenay Blanc comes from sustainably farmed vineyards with limestone-rich soils, which lend the wine its taut structure and classic Burgundian salinity.

Fermented with native yeasts in French oak barrels, the wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation and spends time on lees to add depth without sacrificing its precision. Oak is used sparingly, more as a textural frame than a flavour influence.

In the glass, Jane Eyre Santenay Blanc opens with aromas of lemon zest, green apple, white flowers, and crushed stone. The palate is crisp and finely tuned, with citrus and orchard fruit, gentle lees texture, and a long mineral finish that reflects its cool climate origins. It’s a wine that’s restrained but quietly expressive, ideal for those who prefer their white Burgundy on the racy, elegant side.

Pair it with fresh seafood, roast chicken, or creamy goat cheese for a perfect match. This is a refined white that delivers serious Côte de Beaune character at a more accessible price point.
