From a single vineyard planted in the late ’90s; native-yeast ferment with 20% whole bunches; matured in French oak (10% new) for 10 months. The whole bunch adds a crackling component here, an autumnal rustle, which is suffused with fruit as the wine is buoyed with air, redcurrant and wild red cherry unfurling. Carraway, rhubarb, clove and a dried orange peel/Campari note add complexity. There’s lovely poise and clarity here, while tannins are pleasingly meaningful. It’s a very nice release.

Jane Eyre Shoreham Park Pinot Noir from the Mornington Peninsula is a stunning expression of the region’s cool-climate charm, crafted with precision and elegance. The Mornington Peninsula, known for its maritime influence, offers the ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir, a grape that thrives in cooler climates, and this wine is a beautiful example of the region’s ability to produce wines of finesse and complexity. Jane Eyre Wines, led by the talented winemaker Jane Eyre, is known for crafting wines that focus on balance, purity, and the expression of terroir, and the Shoreham Park Pinot Noir is no exception.
The Shoreham Park vineyard is located in a prime spot on the Mornington Peninsula, where the cool nights and warm, sunny days allow Pinot Noir to develop bright fruit flavors while maintaining its natural acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested, with the wine being made with minimal intervention to allow the character of the vineyard to shine through. The wine is fermented in small batches, with a portion aged in French oak barrels, which adds complexity and structure while complementing the fruit without overshadowing it.
In the glass, Jane Eyre Shoreham Park Pinot Noir presents a beautiful ruby-red color, reflecting its elegance and vibrancy. The nose is aromatic and inviting, with fresh red fruit aromas of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, along with subtle floral notes of rose petals and violet. There’s also a touch of spice, with hints of clove and cinnamon, along with earthy undertones of forest floor, adding depth and complexity to the bouquet.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with silky, well-integrated tannins that provide a smooth and velvety texture. The red fruit flavors are fresh and vibrant, with juicy cherry, raspberry, and cranberry leading the way, while the wine’s bright acidity adds structure and balance. The oak aging contributes subtle spice and a hint of vanilla, complementing the fruit without overpowering it. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering fruit and earthy notes that leave a lasting, elegant aftertaste.
Jane Eyre Shoreham Park Pinot Noir is a versatile wine that pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes. Its bright fruit, smooth tannins, and fresh acidity make it an excellent match for roasted poultry, such as duck or chicken, as well as grilled meats like lamb or pork. It also pairs wonderfully with earthy dishes like mushroom risotto, charcuterie, or soft cheeses like Brie or goat cheese. Whether enjoyed on its own or with a meal, this Pinot Noir is an elegant and food-friendly choice.
