2023 Jean-Louis Chavy Puligny Montrachet Folatieres Premier Cru, Burgundy

Perched high on the slopes above the village, Les Folatières is one of the most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards of Puligny Montrachet. The name refers to the breezy, windswept nature of the hillside, a factor that helps keep the vines healthy while preserving freshness in the grapes. The thin limestone soils here produce wines of striking elegance and aromatic lift. Domaine Jean Louis Chavy is a respected family estate with deep roots in Puligny Montrachet, where generations of the Chavy family have cultivated Chardonnay on some of the village’s finest slopes. The wine shows a pale gold colour with brilliant clarity. Aromas open with lemon zest, white peach and ripe pear layered with white blossom, crushed stone and delicate hazelnut. With time in the glass subtle notes of almond, citrus curd and gentle brioche begin to appear, adding depth while preserving the wine’s freshness. The palate is vibrant and beautifully structured with flavours of citrus and orchard fruit supported by bright acidity and a chalky mineral backbone drawn from the limestone soils. Les Folatières is known for its finesse and lifted aromatics, finishing long and refined with impressive precision.
