From the heart of Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Jean Marc et Thomas Bouley craft a Pinot Noir that captures both the structure and growing finesse of this historic appellation. The Bouley family has been rooted in Volnay and Pommard for generations, with Thomas Bouley now leading the domaine toward a more refined, site transparent style. Careful vineyard work, lower extraction and thoughtful élevage have brought a new elegance to Pommard, while still respecting its natural depth and character.
A deep ruby garnet with striking clarity fills the glass. Aromas unfold with dark cherry, blackcurrant and plum layered with violet, spice and a subtle earthy note of forest floor and crushed stone. There is a sense of quiet power here, balanced by lift and detail.
The palate is medium to full bodied and structured, delivering ripe red and dark berry fruit framed by firm, finely grained tannins and fresh acidity. Notes of cranberry, clove and savoury earth build through the mid palate, leading to a long, persistent finish that feels both grounded and increasingly refined. This is a Pommard that honours its reputation for structure while offering a more polished, modern edge, evolving beautifully over ten to fifteen years into truffle, dried florals and complex undergrowth character.
Duck confit with crisp skin, slow braised beef with herbs, or a rich lentil and mushroom dish shared slowly as the evening deepens. A late night shift into something timeless, Beethoven’s late string quartets or a smoky Miles Davis session, the wine carrying that same sense of depth, tension and quiet evolution.
