The fruit for this Single Vineyard wine was sourced from 20+ year old vines at own Thacore Vineyard in Callanans Road, Red Hill South. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and cool temperature (12°C to 15°C) tank fermented to retain maximum fragrance and fruit characters.
The wine is fragrant and floral, with aromas of fresh lemon and lime. The palate is delicately nuanced with flavours of spice and citrus, with an excellent balance between fruit weight and acidity. The finish is crisp and dry. Whilst this wine is delicious when consumed young, Riesling as a variety has potential for considerable aging.
This single vineyard wine comes from the Thacore vineyard in Callanans Road, Red Hill South, which is now over twenty-five years old.
In order to build complexity and texture, paying homage to Europe, a small portion of the juice is fermented in seasoned oak puncheons. The remainder goes into stainless steel to impart freshness and vitality.
Low yields in 2023 have created a powerful riesling. Delicate citrus and spice notes lead onto a rounded palate with taut acidity and a long dry finish.
