Skilly Valley is a parish of Watervale. A skeletal riesling style, but not without good flavour and perfume. Scents of lime cordial, arrowroot biscuits, candied almonds and green apple with a faint floral lift of jasmine. The palate is imbued with more lime cordial, licks of grapefruit, some floral aromas of jasmine and a touch of talc-like minerality. There's an almost chewiness to texture here, though the wine stays vibrant and bright. Perhaps a touch firm, a little thin on the ground, but a pleasing, ultra-refreshing style here.

The Skilly Valley sub-region of Clare lies on the Western side of the region. The soil is sandy clay-loam over a broken quartz, producing bright lifted aromas of orange blossom and hints of flint. The palate is citrus with some peach and tropical notes, followed by a very characteristic minerality. With crisp and electric acidity, the palate is left refreshed and eager to continue.
