Dry, silky and savoury blend of Tamar Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay
Gold at the 2026 Royal Queensland Wine Awards
A rosé blend of 90% pinot noir and 10% chardonnay from the Kayena vineyard in the Tamar Valley; made in the saignée method with a small amount of dry pinot noir added for final colour. Pale salmon with a fine, persistent bead and mousse. Aromas of redcurrant, Ruby Red grapefruit and strawberry. Some raspberry lift and hints of rose petals, crushed stone and shells, redcurrant pastries, sea spray and meadow flowers. Dry and savoury with finely honed red berry and citrus fruits, plenty of tension and minerality and a stony lean on the finish. Drink to 2036.

A gorgeous peach skin blush starts the experience of this special release. Fresh strawberries, pink grapefruit and lemon curd greet you on the nose. As it opens in the glass, it becomes a stroll through a destination rose garden – the intoxicating perfume of, almost impossibly perfect, blooms. The blend is 64% Pinot Noir (including that added for colour) and 36% Chardonnay. Made using the traditional method with 18 months on lees and Pinot Noir added with dosage to achieve the seductive hue. There’s beautiful harmony of flavour with plush berries, white peach and brioche, lifted by an elegant bubble and bright acidity. A crunchy, chalky minerality provides engaging contrast to a billowing silky texture. It finishes long, and with just a whisper of food friendly tannin structure. Drink to 2030.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Chardonnay Rosé is poised and well constructed as it opens with silky aromas of white strawberry, melon and peach with subtle French pastry complexity. A creamy mousse gives way to fine, detailed flavours of wild strawberry, spice and French nougat, forging through a refined finish. Utterly charming, it should build well in bottle. Drink to 2035.

The 2023 Pirie Tasmania Millésime Prestige Rosé is a 64/36 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with fruit hand harvested from the Kayena Vineyard in Tamar Valley. Top loaded to an air bag press and gently pressed, with cool fermentation in stainless steel followed by a rest on full lees. A small addition of dry Pinot Noir wine was added to the blend for colour ahead of the secondary fermentation and 18 months on lees in bottles.
About this producer
Pirie Tasmania was founded by Dr. Andrew Pirie, the trailblazing viticulturist who was a leader in establishing the fine wine credentials of Tasmania’s northeastern corner and who remains one of the most influential figures in Tasmanian wine.
The Brown Family Wine Group, of Brown Brothers and Tamar Ridge note, has built on his substantial legacy since 2010. Senior winemaker Tom Wallace’s team can easily confidently that Pirie Tasmania remains one of Australia’s best addresses for traditional bottle fermented sparkling wines, with an enviable track record of critical acclaim.
