Jean Rijckaert established his domaine in the 1990s, earning a loyal following for his expressive Chardonnays from Burgundy and the Jura. Today, Florent Rouve continues that tradition, producing wines that favour purity, texture and a clear sense of place. The Bourgogne Chardonnay Vieilles Vignes is a particularly appealing introduction to the range, delivering the depth of mature vines with the freshness and charm of southern Burgundy.
Sourced from old Chardonnay vines in the Mâconnais, this wine benefits from the region's limestone influenced soils and favourable growing conditions. The warm 2023 vintage produced ripe, generous fruit, while the mature vines contribute concentration and a pleasing sense of structure.
Bright pale gold with subtle green reflections. White peach, ripe pear and yellow apple mingle with lemon blossom, fresh almond and a touch of toasted hazelnut. The palate is supple and rounded, with juicy orchard fruit, gentle creaminess and refreshing citrus acidity. A delicate chalky note and hint of savoury spice carry through a clean, lingering finish.
Try it with grilled prawns and green chilli dressing, crispy cauliflower with tahini and lemon, or handmade ricotta ravioli with peas and mint. Its easygoing richness also makes it a lovely partner for baked flathead with fresh herbs and breadcrumbs.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2030. Particularly enjoyable for its generous fruit and youthful freshness
