Jean Rijckaert established his domaine in the 1990s, earning a devoted following for Chardonnay from the Mâconnais and Jura. Today, Florent Rouve continues that tradition, favouring careful vineyard selection and a restrained approach in the cellar. The Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is a particularly appealing expression of the domaine's style, combining the richness of mature vines with freshness and fine mineral detail.
Sourced from old Chardonnay vines in Pouilly-Fuissé, where limestone and clay soils contribute depth and structure, the 2023 reflects the generosity of a warm Burgundy vintage. The older vines help produce concentrated fruit, while thoughtful winemaking preserves the energy and balance that distinguish fine white Burgundy.
Bright pale gold with subtle green reflections. Ripe white peach, yellow apple and lemon oil mingle with acacia blossom, toasted almond and a touch of hazelnut. The palate is beautifully rounded, with succulent stone fruit, a silky texture and lively citrus acidity. Gentle notes of baking spice and crushed limestone lead into a long, savoury finish.
Try it with pan roasted snapper and artichoke purée, handmade pumpkin and ricotta tortellini with sage, or Japanese miso glazed black cod. Its generous texture would also be wonderful alongside a leek and Gruyère soufflé.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2033. Already appealing, with enough freshness and concentration to develop further complexity over the next several years.
