Medium-bodied Shiraz with peppery aromas and fresh, vibrant flavours
A medium-bodied Shiraz, this wine comes to us from the occasionally challenging, cool and wet 2023 season in Clare Valley.
The fruit was crushed and fermented in three and five tonne open fermenters with regular pump overs. Following an average of twelve days of maceration, the dry free run and pressing were combined and raked into 1– to 5-year-old French oak hogsheads and puncheons for a rest.
The wine opens with peppery and minty red fruit that flows onto the supple and elegant palate that balances vibrant fruit intensity with a fresh, persistent spine.
This is ready to be enjoyed on release and would sit well with slow-roasted lamb shoulder with rosemary, or wood-fired mushroom tagliatelle.
About this producer
Two Hands is a Barossa Valley based producer established in 1999 to showcase the diversity of Australian Shiraz and to highlight regional and vineyard characteristics by allowing the fruit to take centre stage. In addition to the three estate vineyards in the region, négociant fruit is also bought from long term grower partners within the greater Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Clare Valley.
The estate vineyards are managed through numerous sustainable practices that include heavy mulching ahead of the growing season, sap flow monitored sparse irrigation and a resident flock of Scottish Highlander cows that turn grape must into good fertiliser.
