Another first-rate riesling from this small Mount Barker producer. From the start, riesling has been a consistent standout, and even in this very season, the quality is excellent. It is one of the best rieslings I have tasted from this vintage. Fine and linear with a lively energised aroma and palate. Lemon zest and spicy bath salts with a crisp tense palate extending to a long finish.
93 points Ray Jordan, Wine Review 2026
Great Southern Riesling has a character of its own. Not the lime pith generosity of Clare Valley, not the delicate florals of Eden Valley, but something more precise and mineral, with a talcy, spiced quality that is distinctly the region's own. Three Drops has been producing this style consistently since 2003 from their home Wragg Road vineyard — a lateritic gravelly, north-facing slope southwest of Mount Barker, planted in 2002.
Night harvested to preserve freshness, pressed immediately and fermented slowly in tank at cool temperatures. No oak, no intervention — just clean varietal fruit and natural acidity doing what they do best.
Pale straw, the nose is bright and lifted — lime zest, green apple, citrus blossom and a flinty mineral edge. The palate is focused and energetic with mouthwatering acidity, good length and that slightly talcy, spiced finish that marks the best Great Southern Rieslings. Dry, pure and very easy to keep drinking.
Vietnamese fresh spring rolls, Thai larb, grilled prawns with citrus or just cold on a warm afternoon. A reliable BYO choice that works across lighter dishes.
Drink now through 2031.
