Grilled apricots and lime zest, rich without being heavy, luscious and so good, a clear sign that there are bright spots in the 2024 vintage - and many of them belong to the dry and sweet whites of the region. Great stuff from Fabrice and Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu. 15 hl/ha yield.

Doisy Daëne from Barsac is one of the great names of Bordeaux's sweet wine tradition, known for producing wines of exceptional purity, freshness, and balance. Owned by the Dubourdieu family since 1924, Doisy Daëne has built a reputation for crafting Sauternes and Barsac wines that combine luscious botrytised richness with vibrant acid structure, setting them apart for their elegance and longevity.
The estate lies in the heart of Barsac on a plateau of red clay over limestone, soils that are crucial for preserving the natural freshness and aromatic clarity that defines Doisy Daëne’s style. Sauvignon Blanc plays a larger role here than in many neighbouring estates, giving the wines a signature lift and brightness alongside the traditional Sémillon base. This combination, along with the meticulous vineyard work and low intervention winemaking philosophy, brings an extra dimension of energy to their sweet wines.
Under the late Denis Dubourdieu, a visionary and professor of oenology who revolutionised white winemaking in Bordeaux, Doisy Daëne sharpened its focus on precision and vineyard expression. Today, his son Jean Jacques Dubourdieu continues that legacy, farming the estate sustainably and crafting wines with the same unwavering commitment to terroir and balance.
The grand vin of Doisy Daëne is made from handpicked, botrytised grapes in multiple passes through the vineyard to ensure only the most perfectly affected berries are used. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels with careful ageing to build texture without overwhelming the wine’s brightness.
In the glass, Doisy Daëne opens with aromas of honeyed apricot, candied citrus peel, white flowers, and delicate tropical fruits. The palate is rich yet incredibly lively, with a beautiful tension between intense sweetness and zesty acidity, leading to a long mineral infused finish. The best vintages can age effortlessly for decades, developing layers of complexity and savoury depth over time.
Perfect with blue cheeses, fruit tarts, or simply enjoyed on its own, Doisy Daëne is a benchmark for those who seek out refined, pure, and exceptionally balanced Sauternes and Barsac wines.
