Easy-drinking red with generous, juicy and soft black fruit
90 points (Silver) Sydney Royal Wine Show 2025
Coriole was founded in 1967 by Hugh and Molly Lloyd after purchasing their Chaffeys Road property in McLaren Vale with its existing Shiraz vineyard. Today, the second and third-generation family members are the caretakers of a much-enlarged viticultural heritage, with 25 vineyard sites across Blewitt Springs, Willunga and McLaren Flat, and vines up to 90 years old.
The Redstone Shiraz is a regional blend of three estate vineyards that presents a soft, early drinking alternative to other Coriole Shiraz wines. The 2024 vintage required diligent vineyard work due to unusually wet high-summer conditions but finished with a prolonged period of dry and warm conditions. The overall quality of fruit was very good.
Generous blackberry and mulberry are at the centre of the aromas, framed by notes of dried Mediterranean herbs and cedar. The palate is juicy and rich, with plush spiced fruit and soft tannins.
A wine for comfortable days at home in your favourite sweatshirt. Easy drinking style for black bean and sweet potato enchiladas or baked beef and ricotta cannelloni.
