Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc Organic from Marlborough is a benchmark example of New Zealand’s most iconic white wine style, elevated by thoughtful organic viticulture and a more hands-off approach in the winery. This isn’t your typical high-octane Marlborough Sauvignon—it’s more layered, textured, and quietly complex, with all the vibrancy you’d expect but delivered in a more refined, food-friendly package.

Dog Point Vineyard was established by two legends of the Marlborough wine scene—James Healy and Ivan Sutherland—both former key players at Cloudy Bay. Since founding Dog Point in 2004, they’ve focused on crafting wines with a strong sense of place and structure. All vineyards are organically certified and hand tended, with low yields and an emphasis on quality over volume.

The Sauvignon Blanc is made using estate-grown fruit from older vines across the Wairau Valley. After hand harvesting, the juice is fermented in stainless steel and left on lees for several months, adding texture and savoury dimension to the classic citrus and herb-driven fruit.

In the glass, it shows lifted aromas of lemon zest, ripe grapefruit, gooseberry, and white peach, alongside hints of green herbs, flint, and a faint smoky edge. The palate is crisp and mouthwatering, with a mineral drive, silky texture, and a long, saline finish. It’s vibrant and structured, made to pair effortlessly with seafood, fresh salads, or dishes featuring goat cheese and herbs.
