Lucien Muzard Santenay Maladière delivers classic red Burgundy with vibrant and elegant Côte de Beaune character.
30% whole bunch vinification, included from specific plots chosen in advance. A mid ruby colour. The bouquet has the lively raspberry style of whole bunch fruit, rather than being too peppery. It has been well judged, and it is the core fruit which holds up at the finish, with just a seasoning of additional spice. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Oct 2025.

Domaine Lucien Muzard is one of Santenay's benchmark family estates, with generations of winemaking dedicated to expressing the character of the Côte de Beaune. Today, brothers Claude and Hervé Muzard continue the domaine's reputation for producing authentic, terroir-driven Burgundy from low-yielding vineyards and traditional methods. Maladière is a beautifully situated site that consistently delivers Pinot Noir of purity, balance and understated elegance.
The 2024 vintage produced fruit of outstanding freshness and precision, with ideal growing conditions encouraging slow, even ripening. Careful vineyard management and restrained oak maturation preserve the vibrant fruit, silky texture and mineral character that define this classic Santenay.
Bright ruby with crimson highlights, the bouquet reveals aromas of wild cherry, raspberry and redcurrant layered with rose petals, subtle spice and delicate forest floor notes. Hints of crushed stone and fine cedar emerge with time, adding depth and complexity. The palate is silky and beautifully balanced, combining vibrant red berry fruit with fine tannins, lively acidity and a graceful mineral thread. Elegant and persistent, the finish lingers with savoury spice and refined Pinot character.
A wonderful match for roast duck, grilled quail, mushroom risotto, herb-roasted chicken or a selection of soft washed rind cheeses. Delicious in its youth, this expressive Santenay will continue to develop beautifully over the next decade.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2036.
