Sicilian sunshine gives Chardonnay a deliciously Mediterranean personality at Donnafugata's Contessa Entellina estate. Founded by the Rallo family in 1983, the winery takes its name from The Leopard, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's celebrated novel. La Fuga, meaning The Escape, comes from hillside vineyards where warm days, cooling breezes and clay rich soils encourage ripe fruit while preserving freshness.
Bright straw yellow with golden reflections. Yellow peach, pineapple and ripe pear mingle with citrus blossom, fresh thyme and a hint of almond. The 2024 vintage is juicy and beautifully balanced, with generous tropical fruit, lively citrus acidity and a refreshing mineral finish. A wonderfully inviting Chardonnay that celebrates Sicily's sunny character without excessive richness.
Delicious with swordfish involtini stuffed with herbs and breadcrumbs, grilled calamari with lemon and oregano, or saffron and zucchini couscous. A lovely choice for a long Mediterranean lunch.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2029. Best enjoyed for its vibrant fruit and freshness
