Faiveley Chassagne Montrachet captures the richness, freshness and mineral finesse that define great white Burgundy.
Chassagne Montrachet is one of Burgundy's great Chardonnay villages, celebrated for wines that marry richness with precision and a distinctive mineral edge. Nestled in the southern Côte de Beaune, its limestone rich vineyards have earned a reputation for producing white Burgundy of remarkable depth and longevity. Maison Joseph Faiveley, established in 1825, has spent seven generations crafting wines that capture the individuality and elegance of Burgundy's most revered appellations.
The 2024 vintage produced Chardonnay of outstanding purity and balance, with ideal conditions preserving freshness while allowing excellent flavour development. Fruit from carefully selected vineyard parcels was handled gently and matured in French oak, adding subtle texture and complexity without overshadowing the character of the site.
Pale straw with brilliant golden highlights, the bouquet reveals aromas of white peach, lemon zest and ripe nectarine layered with acacia blossom, toasted almond and delicate flinty notes. As the wine opens, hints of brioche and wet stone emerge, adding further complexity. The palate is concentrated yet beautifully refined, combining vibrant citrus and stone fruit with creamy texture, lively acidity and a finely woven mineral thread. The finish is long, savoury and poised, lingering with citrus, roasted nuts and chalky freshness.
A superb partner for lobster with herb butter, grilled John Dory, roast chicken with tarragon, scallops or a rich cauliflower gratin. Equally captivating on release or after several years in the cellar, this is a classic expression of one of Burgundy's great white wine villages.
