Silky and salty was my initial reaction to the 2024 Echézeaux En Orveaux from Faiveley. The raspberry and pomegranate fruit aromas are reasonably pronounced, and the hints of flint, smoke and flowers bring a pleasant complexity; the texture is somewhat lean and firmly tannic. The grapes are from Faiveley’s 0.83ha holding in the white marl and limestone soils of the Combe d’Orveaux. In the opinion of winemaker Jérôme Flous, this has ‘good ageing potential [and] lots of precision’. I would agree.

Some red berries on the nose but I am searching for the delicacy, the lacy quality of a top Echezeaux? Middleweight, some tannins behind, quite low acidity, fair length. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Nov 2025

92 points Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

Tucked into the northern reaches of Échézeaux, En Orveaux is one of the most intriguing parcels of this celebrated Grand Cru, bordering the legendary vineyards of Musigny. Its limestone rich soils and cooler position produce Pinot Noir with remarkable perfume, finesse and structure. Domaine Faiveley, founded in 1825, remains family owned, with Erwan and Eve Faiveley leading the estate and Jérôme Flous overseeing winemaking.

Brilliant ruby red with delicate crimson highlights. Wild cherry, raspberry and redcurrant mingle with violet, rose petals and subtle exotic spice. The challenging 2024 vintage emphasises freshness and aromatic definition, with silky tannins, lively acidity and a beautifully persistent mineral finish. Elegant yet concentrated, with the complexity and ageing potential expected of an exceptional Grand Cru.

Magnificent with roasted quail and sour cherries, duck and shiitake dumplings, or a golden wild mushroom and chestnut tart. A wonderfully sophisticated Burgundy for a memorable dinner.

Cellaring: 2029 to 2045+. A refined Grand Cru that will develop greater savoury complexity and beautifully integrated tannins with careful ageing.
