Established by the Towner family in 2007, Flametree has built a strong reputation as one of Margaret River's most consistent producers, with winemaker Cliff Royle selecting fruit from growers across the region's distinct subregions. The Embers range is Flametree's entry point with approachable, fruit-forward and reliably good wines.
The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blends fruit from two Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in the Wallcliffe subregion with Semillon from the Island Brook vineyard in Cowaramup, all grown on classic gravel loam soils with good drainage and vine age. The 2024 was a warm, dry and early vintage producing wines of real fruit power and intensity. Fruit was night harvested, chilled and pressed before fermentation with aromatic yeasts for clean, fresh fruit expression. Thirty percent was wild fermented in older large format oak, adding complexity and a savoury mineral thread to the blend.
The 2024 is aromatic and generous — lemon, lime, guava, lychee and elderflower on the nose, with lemongrass and a subtle herbal lift. The palate is textured and flavourful, with white nectarine and grapefruit driving through, balanced by fine acidity and a savoury complexity from the oak fermented component.
