24th release of traditionally bottle fermented Pinot Noir-Chardonnay
A perfumed nose leaps up the glass with fragrant jasmine, pink lady apples and lemon peel before a baked apple crust and salted cracker character emerges. As the wine opens grapefruit and sherbert develop before subtle sea spray kicks in. On the palate Meyer lemon, granny smith apples and lime curd characters abound, filled out by phenolics that echo truly ripe grapefruit, and the fine bead promotes hints of a toasty brioche complexity.
More about this wine
This is the 24th release of the bottle fermented Brut from Leeuwin Estate.
The fruit was sourced from the home block. The lightly pressed grapes were cold settled, racked, and inoculated with a select yeast strain. The Pinot Noir component fermented in stainless steel and the Chardonnay portion in well-seasoned French oak barriques. These were lees stirred every two weeks for a duration of four months, blended, lightly fined with bentonite and cold stabilised. Tirage was added in August 2024, with the wine maturing in bottles after secondary fermentation in bottle until disgorgement in April 2026.
