2024 Lethbridge Pinot Noir, Geelong

Red and black fruits, with a hint of reduction, a mineral undertone, a floral lift and an almost smoky, peaty edge. The palate is mid-weighted with finely tuned tannins and a plush mouthfeel, framed by a fine structure and a savory touch from 50% whole-cluster fermentation. Delicious and balanced. Drink or hold.

Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis established Lethbridge in 1996 in the Moorabool Valley, northwest of Geelong, on a site with viticultural roots stretching back to 1874. Biodynamic farming and minimal intervention in the winery have been central to the Lethbridge philosophy from the outset — the belief that the best wines express the unique character of the places they come from.

The 2024 Pinot Noir is a regional blend drawn from five estate and leased vineyards across Geelong, each fermented and aged separately before blending. Fruit was wild fermented with 50% whole bunches for up to four weeks, then matured in 20% new French oak barriques before blending in February 2025.

The 2024 is fine-boned and expressive. Tart red cherry and cranberry on the nose, with a floral lift, whole bunch spice and a subtle mineral thread. The palate is mid-weighted and finely structured, with soft tannins, vibrant acidity and a persistence that belies the wine's delicacy.

Pour alongside roasted duck, pinot-friendly mushroom dishes or a simple herb-roasted chicken. Drink now through 2030.
