A vibrant and nicely intense bouquet of ripe white fleshed fruits, nectarine and peach then a layer of citrus and spice. Fleshy textures touch the palate first with a contrasting acid line, then flavours of white fleshed stone fruits, flowers and white spice. Balanced and well made with great mouthfeel and finish. Best drinking from 2024 through 2028+.

Amazing aromas of seared citrus, fresh mandarin zest with hints of honey and brown spice. On the palate the wine is super fresh with the natural sugar very well balanced and excellent acidity/tannin, it has a sweet/salty margarita like vibe and Harry reckons it “looks good” high praise indeed... Perfect to drink on release but also it has excellent potential to be satisfying with a decade of age or more!

The Man O’ War Exiled Pinot Gris from Waiheke Island is a captivating and aromatic white wine that reflects the maritime influences and volcanic soils of this unique New Zealand wine region. Produced by Man O’ War Vineyards, a family-owned estate known for its rugged coastal vineyards, this Pinot Gris showcases the winery’s commitment to crafting expressive, terroir-driven wines.

The Exiled Pinot Gris is sourced from low-yielding vines grown in the cool, breezy conditions of Waiheke Island. These factors contribute to the wine’s vibrant acidity, intense aromatics, and balanced sweetness. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a gentle pressing, with a portion of the wine fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness and another portion aged on lees for added texture and complexity.

Bright aromas of pear, quince, and stone fruits are accompanied by floral notes of jasmine and a touch of honey. The palate delivers luscious flavors of ripe peach, apricot, and citrus, supported by a silky texture and a refreshing acidity. A delicate hint of sweetness enhances the wine’s fruit profile without overpowering its clean, mineral-driven finish.

This Pinot Gris pairs beautifully with dishes such as spicy Asian cuisine, roasted chicken, or creamy seafood pasta. Its vibrant character and slight off-dry style make it versatile for a variety of occasions, from casual meals to refined dining experiences.
