Michele Chiarlo Nivole Moscato d’Asti is a beautifully aromatic and delicately sweet sparkling wine that perfectly captures the charm and freshness of Piedmont’s famous Moscato grape. Crafted by Michele Chiarlo, one of the region’s most respected winemakers, Nivole (meaning “clouds” in the local dialect) is a soft, ethereal wine that’s all about lightness, fragrance and pure joy. It’s widely considered one of the finest examples of Moscato d’Asti, combining precise craftsmanship with irresistible drinkability.
The grapes are sourced from the estate’s high-altitude vineyards in the hills around Canelli, the historic heart of Moscato production. These slopes, with their limestone and sandstone soils, bring both perfume and minerality to the wine. Fermentation takes place in pressurised stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to capture the grape’s natural aromatics. The process is stopped early to retain gentle sweetness, low alcohol, and a fine natural sparkle.
In the glass it shimmers pale straw with golden highlights. The aroma is captivating, bursting with white peach, orange blossom, honey and fresh apricot, with delicate notes of jasmine and pear. The palate is light, silky and softly effervescent, offering juicy fruit balanced by lively acidity and a clean, refreshing finish. It’s perfectly poised between sweetness and freshness, leaving the palate lifted and fragrant.
It pairs beautifully with fruit tarts, lemon desserts, panna cotta or fresh strawberries, and it’s also delightful with blue cheese or enjoyed simply as an aperitif. With its gentle bubbles and low alcohol, it’s an ideal wine for celebrations or relaxed afternoons. Best enjoyed young to appreciate its vibrant fruit and floral character.
