2024 Murdoch Hill Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills

Murdoch Hill, a family-owned winery established in 1998, is known for its small-batch, minimal-intervention approach under the direction of winemaker Michael Downer. Drawing on the cool temperatures and high-altitude vineyards of the Adelaide Hills, this Pinot Noir showcases purity of fruit, fine structure, and a refined complexity.

Bright ruby in color, the nose offers lifted aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry, intertwined with subtle floral notes of rose petal and hints of dried herbs and spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and silky, with juicy red fruit flavors balanced by lively acidity and soft, finely grained tannins. Gentle oak influence adds depth without overwhelming the wine’s delicate character. The finish is long and fresh, with lingering notes of cranberry and earthy undertones.

This Pinot Noir is a versatile food wine, pairing beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto. Its bright acidity and finesse also make it an excellent match for charcuterie, roasted chicken, and light pasta dishes with herbs.
