Aromas and flavours of a very ripe wine with dark skinned fruits from plums to black raspberry then black currant. Additional flavours of clove and baking spices along with a lees and milk chocolate quality emerge as the wine opens out in glass. Dry, balanced, warm and well made with plenty of tannins and acidity for tension and length then a swing back to fruit. Well made with best drinking from 2026 through 2030.

From the dramatic, wind carved landscapes of Central Otago, this Pinot Noir channels the raw energy and clarity that define the region. Nevis Bluff sources fruit from high altitude vineyards where intense sunlight meets cold alpine nights, a combination that builds flavour concentration while locking in acidity and perfume. The Bluff bottling leans into Central Otago’s signature style, generous fruit framed by structure and mineral tension, shaped by schist rich soils and a long, slow growing season.
The winemaking favours brightness and texture over heavy extraction, aiming to preserve the natural vibrancy of the fruit. Gentle handling and thoughtful oak allow savoury detail to sit alongside ripe berry character, creating a wine that feels both plush and energetic.
In the glass it shows a deep ruby with youthful purple flashes. Aromas are vivid and lifted, opening with black cherry, wild strawberry and plum, followed by thyme, dried herbs, spice and a subtle earthy note that reflects the alpine terrain. There is a cool, stony freshness running through the bouquet.
The palate is medium to full bodied, with dark berry fruit wrapped in fine tannins and a bright acid line that gives drive and length. Texture is silky but structured, balancing richness with tension. Flavours echo the nose, cherry, raspberry and savoury spice, finishing long with a mineral edge that keeps the wine focused.
It pairs naturally with lamb, duck, venison, mushroom dishes and herb driven cooking. Drinking beautifully now for its fruit and energy, it will cellar comfortably for six to ten years, developing deeper earthy and gamey complexity while retaining freshness.
This is Central Otago Pinot with both muscle and finesse, alpine in spirit, generous in fruit and grounded by mineral backbone.
