75/25% Yarra Valley floor/Upper Yarra. An excellent introduction into the Oakridge chardonnay program. Immediately appealing with its aromas of ripe nectarines and a pinch of fresh vanillin. Even better on the harmonious, uncluttered and very flavoursome palate. Perfectly priced to drink and enjoy over the next year or two.

Oakridge Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley is a benchmark example of cool-climate Australian Chardonnay, with precision, restraint and regional purity at its core. Under the direction of winemaker David Bicknell, Oakridge has built a reputation for producing some of the most refined and expressive Chardonnays in the country, driven by a deep understanding of site and a light hand in the winery.
Fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the Upper Yarra, where altitude, ancient volcanic soils and a long growing season give the wine tension and crystalline citrus character. The grapes are hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and fermented in French oak, mostly seasoned, with minimal lees stirring and no additions other than a small dose of sulphur. This low-intervention approach allows the vineyard to speak clearly through the wine.
In the glass, it’s finely detailed and structured, showing white peach, grapefruit pith, lemon zest and just a whisper of struck match. The oak is subtle, offering texture and a nutty backbone without overwhelming the fruit. Acidity is vibrant but integrated, leading to a long, mineral finish. It’s a Chardonnay that’s both elegant and quietly complex, with the ability to evolve beautifully over 3 to 5 years.
Oakridge Chardonnay pairs beautifully with grilled snapper, roast chicken with tarragon, or a goat cheese tart. It’s an essential wine for lovers of finely balanced, cool-climate styles.
