Pale straw with aromas of flint-struck white peach, nectarine and citrus fruits infused with hints of soft spice, clotted cream, nougat, almond meal, meadow flowers and stone. Initially creamy and mouth-filling, with an impressive fruit purity. There's an element of savoury restraint to its palate shape, with fine acidity lending propulsion, and textural filigree from a patina of fine, light phenolics. The finish is long, pure and precise. Great drinking all round here!

Penfolds Bin 311 has become one of Australia's benchmark cool climate Chardonnays, showcasing the winery's remarkable ability to source exceptional fruit from the country's finest growing regions. While Penfolds built its reputation on iconic reds, Bin 311 has quietly established itself as one of Australia's most consistently impressive white wines, combining regional diversity with meticulous winemaking. Every vintage is shaped by the best vineyards available, creating a Chardonnay defined by purity, balance and unmistakable elegance.

The 2024 vintage draws together premium parcels from cool climate regions including Tasmania, Tumbarumba and the Adelaide Hills, each contributing its own distinctive strengths. Tasmania lends vibrant acidity and citrus precision, Tumbarumba adds mineral drive and finesse, while the Adelaide Hills provides generosity and aromatic complexity. Whole bunch pressing, fermentation in French oak and careful lees maturation build texture and depth without compromising freshness, resulting in a Chardonnay that is both expressive and beautifully composed.

Pale straw with brilliant green reflections, the bouquet reveals aromas of white nectarine, grapefruit and Meyer lemon layered with white blossom, roasted cashew and a delicate flinty character. As the wine evolves, subtle notes of oatmeal, preserved lemon and hazelnut emerge, adding complexity and refinement. The palate is vibrant yet creamy, balancing pristine citrus and stone fruit with finely integrated oak, bright natural acidity and an elegant mineral thread. The finish is long, focused and effortlessly refreshing, reflecting the precision and finesse that have become hallmarks of Bin 311.

A superb partner for grilled scallops, lobster with herb butter, roast chicken, creamy seafood pasta or a wild mushroom risotto. While beautifully expressive from release, this refined Chardonnay has the balance and structure to develop additional complexity over the next eight to ten years.
