2024 Renato Corino Nebbiolo d'Alba, Piedmont

The Langhe hills are home to some of Italy's most revered wines, and few families know them better than the Corinos. Based in La Morra, Renato Corino has built a reputation for producing expressive, terroir driven wines that capture the elegance and perfume of Nebbiolo. While the estate is best known for its acclaimed Barolos, Nebbiolo d'Alba offers a wonderfully approachable glimpse into the character of Piedmont's noble grape.

Fruit is sourced from carefully tended vineyards planted on the limestone rich soils that define this corner of Piedmont. The 2024 vintage delivered excellent balance and aromatic purity, allowing Nebbiolo's hallmark floral and savoury qualities to shine. Crafted for earlier enjoyment than Barolo, the wine retains the variety's distinctive personality while offering accessibility and charm in its youth.

Bright garnet ruby in colour, the bouquet is immediately inviting with aromas of rose petal, red cherry and wild strawberry layered with notes of violet, blood orange and subtle spice. As the wine opens, hints of anise, dried herbs and forest floor emerge, adding complexity and regional character. The palate is vibrant and beautifully balanced, delivering flavours of sour cherry, cranberry and red berries supported by fine tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is long, savoury and elegant, lingering with floral notes, spice and mineral nuances.

This is a superb partner for mushroom risotto, duck ragù, truffle pasta, braised veal or aged Pecorino. Enjoyable from release, it also has the structure to reward several years in the cellar, developing additional savoury complexity over time.
