Salvard Val de Loire Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, zesty white wine from the eastern part of the Loire Valley, made by the Delaille family at Domaine du Salvard. Based in Cheverny, near the forests of Sologne, this estate has been producing wines since the late 1800s and is now run by fifth-generation brothers Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille. Their Val de Loire cuvée captures the essence of Loire Sauvignon Blanc, aromatic, mineral, and refreshingly dry in a pure and approachable style.
Sourced from estate vineyards planted on sandy clay and limestone soils, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures and aged briefly on fine lees. There’s no oak, no intervention, just a bright, clean white wine that reflects the region’s cool climate and natural elegance.
The nose opens with classic aromas of citrus blossom, gooseberry, green apple and flint, with a touch of cut grass and white peach. On the palate, it’s light to medium bodied, with racy acidity, flavours of lemon zest, grapefruit and crushed herbs, and a dry, stony finish that leaves the mouth refreshed.
Food pairing: perfect with oysters, goat cheese, grilled asparagus, sushi, or fresh herbed salads. Also excellent with white fish, shellfish or chèvre tart.
Cellar potential: best enjoyed within 2 to 3 years for maximum freshness and vibrancy.
