A vivid crimson that invites you in. This captures the merriment of young gamay, with the structure of a Beaujolais cru, with the addition of luminous fruit quality. Pomegranate juice, cranberries and raspberry cordial. Gala apples and grapefruit citrus, a hint of dusty tannins and some pink peppercorn spice. A delight of a wine, easily drunk on its own or with sausage rolls in the park.

Swinging Bridge #009 Gamay from Orange is a bright, juicy, and energetic red that brings a modern Australian twist to this much-loved Beaujolais variety. Grown on the elevated slopes of Mount Canobolas, this wine is all about purity of fruit, silky texture, and cool-climate finesse—proof that Gamay is finding a delicious new home in the high country of New South Wales.
At over 900 metres above sea level, the vineyards in Orange enjoy a long, slow ripening season with cold nights and volcanic soils. These conditions give the #009 Gamay its signature vibrancy, fine tannins, and lively acid line. It’s part of Swinging Bridge’s experimental series, where winemaker Tom Ward plays with variety and technique to craft wines that are expressive, fun, and full of character.
The fruit is handpicked and fermented with a good dose of whole bunches to enhance aromatics and add a savoury edge. Gentle extraction and ageing in old oak help preserve the brightness and texture that make this Gamay so moreish.
In the glass, you’ll find red cherry, wild strawberry, pomegranate, and a subtle herbal twist. The palate is silky and juicy, with crunchy red fruit, light spice, and a clean, energetic finish that makes it an ideal candidate for a slight chill.
#009 Gamay is made for good times—think charcuterie, roast chicken, or grilled veggie skewers. It’s fresh, fun, and full of personality.
