Tenuta Guado al Tasso Vermentino DOC is a coastal white with a Mediterranean soul, crafted by the Antinori family at their Bolgheri estate in Tuscany. While Bolgheri is famed for its powerful reds, this Vermentino reveals a fresher, more sea-breezy side of the region. It’s a wine shaped as much by salt air and sunshine as by its noble heritage.
The Guado al Tasso estate stretches over 300 hectares near the Tyrrhenian Sea, where sandy alluvial soils and constant coastal breezes create the perfect environment for Vermentino to flourish. The Antinori family, whose winemaking legacy stretches back to 1385, brought their signature precision and elegance to this modern expression of an ancient grape. Under the careful guidance of winemaker Marco Ferrarese, the focus here is on freshness, aromatic purity and balance.
Fermented entirely in stainless steel to preserve its crisp character, the wine is bottled young to lock in its bright fruit and subtle minerality. In the glass, it’s a pale straw gold with lively aromas of citrus blossom, lime zest, green apple and wild herbs. There’s a saline flicker beneath the fruit, hinting at the vineyard’s maritime proximity. The palate is vibrant and textural with tangy acidity, notes of white peach and grapefruit, and a clean, gently almond-edged finish.
This is a quintessential summer white with enough structure to elevate it beyond the ordinary. Perfect with fritto misto, seafood linguine, or a tomato and burrata salad with basil and olive oil. Best enjoyed young while its coastal freshness is at full tilt
