Voliero Rosso di Toscana IGT is a beautifully made modern Tuscan red that balances regional character with approachability and polish. Produced by the team behind Tenuta di Biserno in coastal Tuscany, this wine draws on fruit from younger vines and carefully selected parcels, giving it energy, freshness and immediate charm while still carrying serious pedigree.
The vineyards lie in the Upper Maremma near Bolgheri, where warm Mediterranean days are tempered by cooling sea breezes from the Tyrrhenian coast. Gravelly alluvial soils help keep vigour in check and contribute structure and definition. While Rosso di Toscana gives winemakers freedom beyond DOC rules, Voliero still feels firmly grounded in place, shaped by its coastal Tuscan setting.
The blend is typically led by Sangiovese with Bordeaux varieties playing a supporting role, bringing both vibrancy and depth. In the glass, the wine is generous and inviting. Ripe cherry, plum and red berries are layered with subtle spice, dried herbs and a gentle savoury edge. The palate is medium bodied, smooth and well balanced, with fine tannins and fresh acidity keeping everything lively and food friendly.
This is a wine made for the table. It works beautifully with pasta dishes, grilled meats, pizza or simple Tuscan fare where olive oil, herbs and tomato shine. It is drinking well now for its fruit and softness, but it will also hold comfortably for several years, gaining extra complexity without losing its easy going appeal. A polished, versatile Tuscan red that offers excellent value and plenty of character.
