Intense, silky and rich vintage-style fortified from Shiraz and Tempranillo
This is an intense, silky and rich vintage-style fortified with abundant, deep blue fruit and generous helpings of dark chocolate and licorice.
The 2024 is a 50/50 blend of Shiraz and Tempranillo from Wild Duck Creek’s Mia Mia vineyard. The de-stemmed grapes were co-fermented in two small open fermenters until appropriate residual sugar level, and fortified with a 24-year-old brandy before being left for further five days on skins. The wine was then matured in seasoned oak barriques for 12 months.
Our offer is for the 750mL size of this small production wine.
About this producer
Founder David Anderson was just 21 years old in 1974 when he planted the first vines for what was to become Wild Duck Creek. Over the last five decades he has continued putting vines in the ground with his son Liam across their home in Victoria’s Heathcote region.
Their ten sustainably farmed vineyards now cover 46 hectares. No herbicides or synthetic fertilisers are used in the vineyards, and all winery waste is composted and spread across vineyards when mature. The sustainable thinking extends beyond the vine rows, with vacant land on the properties being continuously re-planted with local grass, shrub and tree species, and the business at large running with 100% renewable energy.
