2025 Alkoomi Collection Riesling, Frankland River

Alkoomi Collection Riesling is a beautifully pure expression of Frankland River, one of the Great Southern’s most exciting cool climate regions. The vineyards sit on elevated, windswept slopes with ancient gravelly and ironstone rich soils, where cool nights and a long growing season give Riesling piercing aromatics, intense citrus flavour and naturally high acidity. This is a place that produces Riesling of incredible energy and precision.

Alkoomi is a family owned estate founded by the Hartford family in the early 1970s, and today it is led by Sandy and Andrew Hartford. Their Collection range focuses on small parcels of their best fruit, capturing the true character of Frankland River and its remarkable terroir.

In the glass, the wine shows lime zest, lemon blossom and green apple, with a distinctive crushed rock and saline edge. The palate is tightly wound and mouthwatering, driven by bright citrus fruit and crisp acidity, finishing long, dry and refreshing.

This is a superb food wine. Fresh oysters, grilled fish, Thai and Vietnamese dishes, schnitzel or goat’s cheese all work beautifully with its precision and mineral drive.

Alkoomi Collection Riesling is delicious young for its vibrancy, but it is also built to age. Over ten to fifteen years it will develop classic toast, honey and kerosene notes while retaining its lively core. It is a benchmark Frankland River Riesling and a great example of just how special this corner of Western Australia can be.
